LUCASVILLE — It was just what the doctor ordered. Or at least the South Point Lady Pointers coach.

Coach Dave Adams put a much-needed game on the Lady Pointers schedule this season and South Point came away with a 56-26 win over the Lucasville Valley Lady Indians Monday.

With a showdown Thursday at home against Coal Grove for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference, the Lady Pointers got a good workout against Valley.

“It was a physical game and they play a tough schedule. It was a good game for us to play,” said Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams.

The Lady Pointers defense came up with 14 steals that helped propel them to their 13th win against six losses.

“We had good pressure defense. We were able to create some offense with our press,” said Adams.

South Point jumped all over the Lady Indians in the first quarter. Kayla Fletcher scored eight points while Jalynn Bradburn and T’Ann Mayo had five each — both hit 3-pointers — and it was 19-5.

Mayo and Fletcher hit a 3-pointers and as the lead went to 27-11 at the break.

Fletcher and Bradburn scored four points each in the third quarter and South Point went ahead 42-21.

Taylor pounded the Valley defense for eight points in the fourth quarter as South Point continued to pull away.

Fletcher finished with 17 points, four assists and seven steals. Mayo scored 11 points to go with three assists and Taylor had 11 points and six rebounds.
