PEDRO — To the Rock Hill Redwomen, “quit” is a four-letter word.

Rock Hill put together a two-out, three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge the South Point Lady Pointers 3-2 Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We hit well, but we hit right at people the first part of the game. But we didn’t give up. We could have easily laid down but we got some clutch hits when we needed them,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper.

The game was scoreless until South Point got a run in the fourth inning.

Sashe Burcham was hit by a pitch, moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Hannah Huron, and Tausha Collins got an infield hit. Ashley Smith hit into a fielder’s choice as the run scored.

The Lady Pointers went up 2-0 in the top of the seventh.

Collins reached on an error and Brooke Lucas went in as the pinch-runner. After two wild pitches put Lucas on third base, Amy Lien hit a run-scoring single to left.

Then came Rock Hill’s big seventh.

With one out, Kristen Phillips got a base hit. Courtney Duncan hit into a fielder’s choice for the second out.

Brooke Long and Jazel DeAutremont singled for a run. With runners on the corners, DeAutremont stole second base and Megan Long delivered a two-run single to center to end the game.

“It was an exciting game. Both teams played good defense and both teams pitched well,” said Harper.
