Smith leaves MU for medical reasons

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall freshman quarterback Chris Smith has left the team for a medical reason.
Officials say the South Point, Ohio, resident has a severe anxiety disorder.
Coach Mark Snyder says Smith has had the disorder for about eight months and it seems to get worse each week.
Smith remains in school, and hasn’t ruled out a return to football.
He was rated one of the top quarterbacks in Ohio by recruiting services when he signed with the Thundering Herd last year.
Smith’s departure leaves four other Marshall quarterbacks.
