PEDRO — For the next game, the Rock Hill Redmen might want to set the alarm a little earlier.

After going scoreless for five innings, the Redmen scored eight runs in the sixth inning and beat the Chesapeake Panthers 8-2 Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We woke up,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

The scoring outburst made a winner of Nathan Davenport who allowed just two hits over seven innings.

“Nathan pitched a good game. The only mistake he made was a throwing error,” said Litteral.

Chesapeake (1-4, 0-3) was the first to score with a run in the fifth inning.

With two outs, Clinton Baise walked, stole second and scored on a throwing error.

The Panthers added a run in the top of the sixth when Travis Zimmerman walked, pinch-runner Gabriel Freyre moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out throwing error.

Rock Hill (2-0, 2-0) then erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the inning.

Davenport singled to start the inning, Zach Zornes walked and Mitchell Davenport had an RBI single. Mark DePriest drove in a run with a hit, a passed ball moved the runners up, and Josh Christian delivered a two-run single.

Josh Malone reached on an error, Drew Kuehne had an RBI single, and Seth Kuehne hit a two-run single. Seth Kuehne came around to score on a throwing error into left field.
