Ironton student stabbed
An Ironton High School student is facing a felonious assault charge after she allegedly stabbed a fellow student with an X-Acto knife Tuesday.
Ironton Police Detective, Capt. Chris Bowman said the 19-year-old female victim was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center with two wounds to the leg. She was treated and released.
The 16-year-old female suspect was taken to the Dennis J. Boll Group and Shelter Home.
“They were in a classroom and a verbal argument erupted,” Bowman said.
He did not say what was instigated the argument.
Superintendent Dean Nance said the X-Acto knife is a tool used in art class and that the two girls were in art class when the incident occurred.
“We take all incidents like this seriously,” Nance said. “This is something we are definitely not going to stand for.”
The incident happened at 11:36 a.m. Tuesday at the facility on Delaware Street.
