PORTSMOUTH — Cami Groves is a good pitcher. Ali Thompson proved to be better.

Thompson fired a two-hitter as the Green Lady Bobcats blanked the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers and Groves 3-0 Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Thompson struck out 10 and did not issue a walk as she allowed just two singles.

Green got the only run it needed when Abbey Barrett, Tiffany Stoneking and Ashlee Runyon all singled in the second inning.

The Lady Bobcats scored two more in the fifth inning on singles by Ashley Spears, Cassie King, Thompson and Barrett.

Green (7-2, 5-1) visits Wellston Friday.
