Ironton, Chesapeake split two

CHESAPEAKE — It was supposed to be a baseball doubleheader. The scoreboard looked more like football games.
In two high-scoring affairs Saturday, the Ironton Fighting Tigers and Chesapeake Panthers split a doubleheader.
Ironton won the first game 18-16 and Chesapeake took the nightcap 13-6.
Ironton combined 12 hits, 11 walks and three hit batsmen to outscore Chesapeake 18-16 in the first game.
Nick Lewis went 2-4 with a grand slam and two sacrifice flies as he drove in six runs.
Geoff White was 2-3 with a double, Wes Runyon 2-4, and Ryan O’Leary 2-6 with a double.
Clinton Baise was 5-6 to lead Chesapeake. Kyle Rase and Colton Lindsey each went 3-5 and Phillip Mandt was 2-4.
Chesapeake had 12 hits in the second game to post a 13-6 win.
Baise ws 4-4 in the second game to finish the day 9-10. Gabriel Freyre was 3-4 and Colton Lindsey 2-3.
Lewis was 3-3 and Byron Brammer 2-4 to lead Ironton.
