CHESAPEAKE — It was everything it was supposed to be.

The showdown between Ohio Valley Conference co-leaders South Point and Chesapeake lived up to its billing.

The Lady Panthers Allison Chapman pitched a two-hitter as she blanked the Lady Pointers 2-0 Monday.

Chapman’s performance overshadowed a solid effort by South Point’s Hannah Huron who gave up seven hits, struck out two and walked only one.

“It was a well-pitched game on both sides,” said Chesapeake coach Aaron Rice.

“We got some clutch hits and played good defense behind Allison. She did a nice job shutting them down.”

Chesapeake (10-4, 4-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on doubles by Chapman and Sarah Mayo.

The Lady Panthers added an insurance run in the fourth inning.

Sidney Boyle singled to start the inning, went to second base on a wild pitch, moved to third on a hit by Shelby Pike, and scored on Courtney Heffner’s sacrifice fly.

Mayo was the only hitter with multiple hits as she went 2-3.

Ashley Kleinman and Tausha Collins had the only hits for South Point (3-2, 4-4).
