PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons went 3-for-3.

Fairland played well in all three facets of the game Friday as they posted a key 8-0 win over the South Point Pointers in Ohio Valley Conference play.

“That was one of our most complete ball games. Good pitching, good hitting, and good defense. If you get all three of those, you’re probably going to win. We were focused and ready to play,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder.

The pitching came from Tyler Thackston who allowed just two hits in six-plus innings. He struck out 10 and walked two before leaving after a line drive hit off the bat of Jacob Seagraves struck the back of his head.

“The three games he’s started he’s been sharp. He’s looked good all three times out,” said Snyder. “Even after he was hit by the line drive he wanted to finish the game.”

Fairland (10-3) is now tied with Rock Hill for first in the OVC at 6-1.

After a scoreless first inning, the Dragons got a pair of runs in the second.

Thackston singled, moved up on a passed ball and scored on Ethan Long’s base hit. Adam Berry singled and Nate Burcham doubled for the second run.

Fairland came back with three runs in the third inning as Zach Matasich, Robbie Easterling, Thackston, Long and Berry all singled.

The lead went to 6-0 in the fourth when Jordan singled, moved up on a fielder’s choice, and Thackston singled.

The final two runs scored in the fifth inning.

Berry walked, Burcham was hit by a pitch, both moved up on a passed ball, and Chad Fisher hit a sacrifice fly. Burcham scored when Matasich grounded out.

Seagraves and Kyle Hughes had the only hits for South Point (8-6, 3-4).
