Lady Panthers pitch perfect game

COAL GROVE — Contact the WWE. Have we got a tag team for them.

The Chesapeake pitching tandem of Allison Chapman and Sidney Boyle combined for a 5-inning perfect game Friday as the Lady Panthers blanked the Coal Grove Lady Panthers 11-0.

“They threw well,” said Lady Panthers coach Aaron Rice. “They both have spent a lot of time working and they continue to work.”

Chapman struck out seven of the nine batters she faced and Boyle fanned three of six.

Chesapeake had eight hits and was aided by 11 walks.

The Lady Panthers got all the runs they needed in the first inning as they took a 3-0 lead.

Chapman walked and scored on a double by Nikki Lindsey. Shelby Pike walked and Courtney Heffner and Kimmie Bennett followed with doubles.

The lead went to 6-0 in the second.

Casey Kirk, Chapman and Pike all walked and Boyle cleared the bases with a double.

A run scored in the third when Myky Harmon singled with one out and three straight batters walked.

Chesapeake put the game away with four runs in the fifth inning.

Chapman, Pike and Lindsey all walked, and then Boyle and Hannah Henderson followed with two-run singles.

Boyle and Bennett each went 2-4 to lead the offense.

Chesapeake (12-4, 6-1) plays at South Point Monday.

PROCTORVILLE — Just like the beginning of Genesis, the South Point Lady Pointers had the Big Inning.

South Point used a big nine-run inning to beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 12-3 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The game was tied 1-1 through four innings. South Point then

used four Fairland errors to help generate nine runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-1 lead.

South Point banged out 15 hits for the game with Emily Mannon going 2-5 with four runs batted in. Ericka Leighty was 3-4 with a double, Hannah Huron 2-5, and Ashley Kleinman and Ashley Smith 2-4.

Huron got the win as she struck out eight and did not walk a batter.

Fairland had 10 hits with Traci Ryder going 3-3 and Shelby Fuller and Brooke Pinkerman each went 2-3.

On Monday, South Point (7-, 5-2) hosts first-place Chesapeake in a pivotal OVC game while Fairland hosts River Valley.
