HAVERHILL — Welcome to the Launching Pad.
The hitter-friendly Dow Chemical Field was just that for the Portsmouth Trojans Friday as they banged out 21 hits including four home runs as they beat the Ironton Fighting Tigers 19-7 in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game.
“We jumped on them 5-1 in the first inning, but we just couldn’t get anybody out after that,” said Ironton coach Tobey Schreck. “Portsmouth hit the ball well.”
John Harcha, one of the Trojan triplets, slugged three home runs and went 5-for-5 to lead the Trojans. Matt Harcha also homed as he went 2-3 and Howard Harcha was 3-4.
