AID — If you were expecting a close game between the Green Lady Bobcats and Symmes Valley Lady Vikings, you weren’t disappointed.

Green managed to beat the Lady Vikings 3-1 Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“It was a typical Green-Symmes Valley ball game,” said Lady Vikings coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

“We had opportunities couple other times and couldn’t get a clutch hit, and they had chances and couldn’t get a a clutch hit so it ended up a pitcher’s duel.”

The pitcher’s duel was between Green’s Ali Thompson and Symmes Valley’s Libby Ash.

Thompson struck out 10, gave up three hits and did not walk a batter. Ash fanned seven, walked one and allowed six hits.

The Lady Vikings got a run in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea Wall singled, moved to second base on a passed ball, and scored when Kayla Ross’ ground ball was thrown away at first base.

Green scored all three of its runs in the sixth inning.

Thompson doubled to start the inning and Cassidy Skaggs reached on a one-out error to score the tying run. Abbey Barrett then hit a home run that deflected off the glove of centerfielder Haily Pelletier for the go-ahead runs.

Symmes Valley (10-4, 6-2) visits Western on Wednesday.
