SOUTH POINT — Laundry isn’t the only thing that can be hung out to dry.

Jacob Seagraves hit a hanging curveball for a three-run homer that lifted the South Point Pointers to a 4-2 win over the Ironton Fighting Tigers Tuesday.

The home run spoiled a solid pitching performance by Wes Runyon who struck out six and walked only two.

“Wes pitched a heck of a game except for one hanging curveball,” said Ironton coach Tobey Schreck. “And we had our chances and couldn’t get the clutch hit.”

Beau Weed was the beneficiary of Seagraves’ hit as he pitched the final five innings to get the win. He fanned five and walked two.

The Pointers went up 1-0 in the third inning when Jake Adkins was hit by a pitch, Stephen McClure singled, Jordan Fletcher reached on a two-out error, and Weed doubled.

Ironton tied the game in the fourth inning.

Geoff White singled, moved to second base when Bryon Brammer reached on an error, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Runyon’s ground out.

McClure, who went 3-3, singled to start the fifth inning and Fletcher had a one-out double. After a strikeout, Seagraves hit an 0-1 curveball for the go-ahead home run.

Ironton got a run back in the sixth inning.

John Schweickart singled, Keith Wetzel was safe on an error, and Josh Pancake doubled home the run.

Ryan O’Leary and Nick Lewis walked to load the bases, but Weed was able to get the next batter on a called third strike to end the rally.

Schweickart singled and Runyon doubled with two outs in the seventh, but Weed got a strikeout to end the threat and the game.
