Mr. and Mrs. Clint (Barb) Dean and Mr. Lary Thomas, of Oak Hill, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brittany Thomas to Brandon Swartzwelder, son of Ms. Julia Cochran, of Ironton, and Mr. & Mrs. Gregory Scott Swartzwelder, of South Point.

The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Oak Hill High School.

She graduated from Ohio University in 2007 with an associate’s degree of applied science in equine studies.

She is enrolled at Ohio University and is pursuing a degree in middle childhood education. She is employed as a manager at McDonalds in Oak Hill and is a substitute teacher for Collins Career Center.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norm Echler, of Bryan, and Ms. Wilma Thomas of Oak Hill and the late Mr. Howell Thomas.

The groom-elect is a 2000 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and Collins Career Center, where he studied welding.

After completing apprenticeship training, he is employed with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 577 in Portsmouth and is employed at the coke plant in Haverhill.

He is the grandson of Ms. Anna Akers and the late Mr. George Akers, Mr. James Cochran, of Ironton, and Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Swartzwelder, of South Point.

He is also the great grandson of Mr. George Salyers, of Ironton.

A June 14 wedding is being planned at Jeffersonville Missionary Baptist Church with Rev Roger Pierce officiating. Invitations will be sent.
