International author to speak at Rotary

IRONTON — Edward Mattson, internationally known public speaker, medical research specialist, and a member of the Romanian Association of Preventive Oncology will address the Ironton club of Rotary International on Wednesday at the B.P.O.E. Elks.
This is the first time Mattson has spoken in southeastern Ohio.
He will be speaking on cancer research and treatment today, a subject he is extremely well versed in; including the latest types of treatment available in the United States.
He has travel across the United States as well as internationally, providing information, arranging for treatments and even helping to provide medical airlift for cancer patients.
While a guest of the club, he will also address Rotary International programs worldwide having taken part in more than 200 projects in Europe, South America, Africa and the South Pacific.
He has been awarded the American Cancer Society “Order of the Sword,” is a published author and has appeared on numerous radio and television shows.
The Ironton Rotary International club will be going to Central America next year in support of its first international humanitarian project, helping to refurbish the childrens’ section of a community library in San Ignacio, Belize.
Rotarians from Portsmouth, Wellston, Jackson and Ashland, Ky. will join the Ironton club in carrying out this project; traveling to Belize later this year and then in the spring of 2009.
All Rotarians and their guests are invited to attend and arrive early for the meeting if they wish to speak with the Mattson privately.
