Lawrence County residents can give their thoughts and get information about a study on watershed concerns during a meeting Thursday at the Briggs-Lawrence County Public Library in Ironton.

Rural Action will have the meeting to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers a chance to present the preliminary findings of a recent study. The meeting will be 6:30 p.m. An informal meeting will precede it from 4 – 5 p.m. Members of the public, community leaders and resource professionals are urged to attend.

This meeting is part of a larger study, sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission, focusing on watersheds in five counties. This will be an opportunity to identify and prioritize watershed concerns related to flood damage reduction, ecosystem and environmental restoration, as well as other issues related to watershed management. The meeting is free and open to the public.
