Amanda Katherine Thompson, of South Point, and Darin Michael Abbott, of Chesapeake, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Steve and Kathy Thompson of Ironton. She is a 1997 graduate of Rock Hill High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marshall University in 2001 and a master’s degree in business administration in 2003. She is a certified public accountant with Thompson Financial Services in Ironton.

The groom-elect is the son of Dan and Sherry Abbott of Thornville. He is a 1998 graduate of Palatka High School in Palatka, Fla. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management. from Hocking College in 2000. He is a state wildlife officer with the Ohio Division of Natural Resources.

A late summer wedding is planned.
