Ironton 18, Ashland, Ky. 6

IRONTON — Ironton used a tough defense to limit the Ashland Tomcats to less than 100 yards total offense as the mistake-prone Fighting Tigers posted an 18-6 win Friday night.

Despite losing two of four fumbles — one inside the Ashland 5-yard line — Ironton (2-1) won as Keith Wetzel ran for 65 yards, Chance Freeman 64 yards and a score, and Lukas Morris two touchdown passes covering 49 and 9 yards.

Rashard Carter had 63 yards on 18 carries for Ashland (1-2).

Minford 13, Coal Grove 0

MINFORD — Evan Price kicked two fields goals and Mark Slone ran 12 yards for a third quarter score as Minford (4-0) got past the Coal Grove Hornets 13-0 Friday.

Frank Delawder had 74 yards on 18 carries for the Hornets (1-3) who lost two fumbles that wasted two scoring opportunities.

South Point 34, Point Pleasant 26

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — South Point got its first win of the season behind a powerful running game as the Pointers rallied in the second half to beat the Point Pleasant Big Blacks 34-26 Friday.

South Point (1-3) had 456 yards rushing plus another 27 passing for 483 total yards.

Doug Dillon ran for 163 yards and three touchdowns, Jacob Seagraves had 137 yards and a score, and Ryan Plants added 111 yards. Seagraves also threw a TD pass.

The Pointers trailed 16-12 at the half.

Portsmouth West 42, Rock Hill 6

WEST PORTSMOUTH — Alf Bricker ran for more than 100 yards in the second half as the Portsmouth West Senators broke open a close game and beat the Rock Hill Redmen 42-6 Friday.

West (4-0) led just 14-0 at the break. Rock Hill (0-4) lost freshman quarterback Will McCollister to an injury late in the first half and were forced to use running back Josh Malone at quarterback in the second half.

Symmes Valley 53, Manchester 30

WILLOW WOOD — Symmes Valley built a 38-0 lead in the first quarter and emptied its bench the rest of the game as the Vikings routed the Manchester Greyhounds 53-30 Friday.

Symmes Valley (2-2) racked up 382 total yards with 350 coming on the ground. Reserve running back Cody Myers had 103 yards on nine carries.

Lucasville Valley 9, Chesapeake 0

CHESAPEAKE — Lucasville Valley won a defensive battle as they beat the Chesapeake Panthers 9-0 Friday.

Tyler Evans ran 18 yards for a first quarter touchdown and David Crabtree recorded a third quarter safety to account for all the scoring.

Chesapeake (2-2) outgained the Indians (3-1) in total yards 228 to 196.

Tolsia, W.Va. 21, Fairland 14

GLENHAYNES, W.Va. — Defensive end Hardin Spaulding returned an interception for a touchdown and Tolsia took advantage of four Fairland turnovers to hold off the Dragons 21-14 Friday.

Fairland (0-4) had 332 total yards to 185 for Tolsia but could not overcome the turnovers or injuries to all three tailbacks that left the running game to only fullback Blayne Cornwell and quarterback Cole Hatfield.

Cornwell rushed nine times for 112 yards.
