GROVE CITY — The Green Bobcats might have lost their first game of the season, but they didn’t walk away with their heads down.

The Bobcats gave a valiant effort as they lost 27-6 to the Grove City Christian Eagles Friday night.

“I was pleased with the effort. We competed,” said Green coach Dan Mercer. “Hopefully we took a step forward

All-Ohio running back Jesse Barns had touchdown runs of 55 and 6 yards in the first half as the Eagles held onto a 14-0 halftime lead.

Grove City Christian added a score in the third quarter and a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Green scored on a 1-yard run by Chad Lewis with 3:20 to play.

The Bobcats (2-1) play at Racine Southern this Friday.
