CHESAPEAKE — Now that’s how you keep from wasting time.

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets needed just three sets to get past the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match Tuesday, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-20.

Chelsea Delong had eight kills to lead the Lady Hornets (7-3) to the league win.

“Sarah Rice did a real nice job of setting us up for shots all night and she’s just a freshman,” said Lady Panthers coach Dana Edwards. “But Chelsea Delong did a great job for them. She was a force at the net.”

In the reserve match, Coal Grove got seven aces from Shelby Wilson as they beat Chesapeake 9-25, 25-19, 25-19. Danielle Crace had four ace serves for the Lady Panthers.

Also, the Lady Panthers junior varsity beat Rock Hill 2-1 in a match last week. It was originally reported the Lady Panthers had lost the match.

Chesapeake visits South Gallia on Wednesday.

Lady Pointers top Fairland

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers took a straight sets victory over the Fairland Lady Dragons Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference match.

The Lady Pointers, currently second in the OVC behind River Valley, won all three sets by the scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-21 behind the scoring of Brooke Lucas and Allison Mitchell.

South Point plays Chesapeake on Thursday in a league match.
