Jr. Hornets rout Raiders

CHESHIRE — The Junior Hornet rushing attack was in high gear as they ran for 312 yards on their way to a 59-6 victory over the Raiders of River Valley.

Kyle Estep got the scoring started as he bolted in from 5 yards out and ran for the conversion.

Estep scored late in the first quarter and Alex Bare’s conversion made it 16-0.

Estep got his third score arly in the second quarater and it was 22-0.

Bryan Steele had a 34-yard touchdown run and Tanner Dutey passed to Steele for the conversion to put the Hornets up 30-0. A bad snap on a punt set up an 8-yard TD run by Estep, his fourth touchdown of the game.

Levi Wyatt’s kick made it 37-0 at the half.

Brandon Hogsten ran 54 yard to start the second half and it was 43-0.

With the second unit in, Caleb McKnight raced 28 yards for a score and also added the conversion and it was 51-0.

Dale Scarberry had a 1-yard TD run to cap the Hornets scoring. McKnight added the conversion.

Estep ran for 84 yards on 13 attempts and four TDs. Hogsten added 72 on only 4 attempts. Bare was 1 of 3 passing for 30 yards. The Hornet defense yielded only 21 yards rushing and 51 yards passing. Hogsten lead the defense with five tackles and a fumble recovery. Dutey added an interception.

Coal Grove (4-0, 20) hosts unbeaten Chesapeake at 6 p.m. Thursday.
