MARION — Gerald Edward Strait, 77, of Marion, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at Community Healthcare Center in Marion.
He was born April 3, 1931, in Akron, a son of the late Oscar and Cynthia Rutherford Strait. In 1952 he married Hester Mae Friend, who died in 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry and Oscar Strait, both of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a daughter, Geraldine (David) Duddy, of Apache Junction; five grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; two great–great grandchildren; and three sisters, Irene Morgan of Elcott City, Md., Leona Rattliff of Virginia and Margaret Friend of LaRue.
Two sons, Gerald Jr. and David Strait, and a brother, Lewis Strait, preceded him in death.
He worked as a steel fabricator for Bethlehem Steel.
There will be no service or visitation. Stofcheck–Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is in charge of arrangements.
