Junior Hornets win back jug from Junior Panthers

COAL GROVE — The Chesapeake Junior Panthers had an unbeaten record and the middle school Little Brown Jug when they came to Coal Grove last Thursday, but they left without both.
The Coal Grove Junior Hornets ended a long draught against the Panthers with a 27-0 as the offense had 291 total yards while the defense yielded just 65.
Brandon Hogsten had a 3-yard scoring run to make it 6-0 in the first quarter and went up 12-0 at the half on a 21-yard scoring pass from Alex Bare to Bryan Steele.
Hogsten had a 54-yard scoring run to start the third quarter. Bare threw to Steele for the conversion and it was 20-0.
Bare scrambled 22 yards for a score later in the quarter and Levi Wyatt kicked the conversion.
Hogstenhad 197 yards rushing on 15 carries behind the offensive line of Trevor Barrett, Levi Wyatt, Jacob Bocook, Blake Danner, Brandon Newcomb, Robert Sparks and Cody Davidson.
Kyle Estep had seven tackles and Newcomb recovered a fumble to pace the defense.
The Hornets (5-0, 3-0) host Fairland at 6 p.m.Thursday at Lemaster Stadium. Chesapeake (4-1, 2-1) entertains South Point.
