Got any questions about the upcoming local election?

Some of those questions may get answers during a candidate’s forum next week at Ohio University Southern.

The university and the Greater Lawrence County Chamber Area of Commerce are sponsoring the event that will be at 6 p.m. in Bowman Auditorium.

“This is a chance for Lawrence Countians to hear from potential officeholders and current officeholders and hear their opinions, their commitments and goals for the county and why they feel they are the best candidate,” chamber of commerce Executive Director Dr. Bill Dingus said.

The candidates will be asked questions obtained from the audience and will be given a certain amount of time to respond. Their opponent will be given a chance to comment after that, Dingus said.

Meanwhile, an OUS communications class will have a debate watch at 8:30 p.m. today at Bowman Auditorium.

Students, faculty and staff will gather to watch the debate between presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama. Students will record their impressions and other data on electronic clickers as the questions concerning the debate are displayed on a large screen.
