It was a day to remember.

Running at the Piketon Invitational Saturday, sophomore Taylor Hacker broke the Ironton school record for girls as she finished with a 20:58 clocking. The old record was 21:05 set by Sarah Herman in 2000.

Hacker finished 15th overall in a field of 141 runners.

Fairland junior Kira Dillon was 12th individually with a 20:45 time.

Finishing for Coal Grove were: 119. Ariel Cole 28:21.8, 134. Jordyn Cox 32:59, 135, Taylor Sexton 32:59.5.

Chesapeake’s Paige Nelson ran a 25:58 to finish at No. 89.

Peyton Adkins of Gallipolis ran an 18:20 time to set the course record for girls.

In the boys’ meet, Fairland was fifth overall as a team and Ironton finished in the top 10 with an eighth place finish.

Sophomore Adam Stumbo led Ironton with a 17:46.7 time to place No. 27 overall. Gary Monroe came in at No. 47 with an 18:20 time, Levi Runyon had an 18:40 clocking to come in at No. 55, Dustin Mortiz posted a 19:14 time to finish No. 68, and Caleb Hammond ran a 21:55 to take No. 134 in the 163-man field.

Fairland was led by Tanner Mattie withat 16:50 time that was good for fifth place overall. Teammate Joe Stewart finished 15th with a 17:28 time.
