Lady Hornets down Lady Panthers in OVC

The Coal Grove Lady Hornets beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match, but it proved to be a tough four-game set.
The Lady Hornets lost the first set 25-17, then rebound to win the next three sets 25-21, 25-8, and 25-18.
Chelsea Delong scored 19 points, Danielle Carpenter 13, and Rikki Butler 12 to lead Coal Grove.
Chesapeake won the reserve match.
Coal Grove will play at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at home in the sectional tournament against the winner of the Fairland vs. Chesapeake game.
Chesapeake plays at Fairland at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Lady Pointers win
SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers got past the Fairland lady Dragons Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match.
The Lady Pointers won in four sets 25-20, 24-26, 28-26 and 25-18.
Allison Mitchell led South Point with 22 points. Brianna Day scored 17 points to pace Fairland.
