IRONTON — In conjunction with an ongoing resurfacing and rehabilitation project on U.S. Route 52 in Lawrence County, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be switching traffic patterns on U.S. 52 at the state Route 93 exit.

From approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, the off-ramp from U.S. 52 West to S.R. 93 will be closed while traffic patterns are changed on U.S. 52. The on-ramp from Route 93 to U.S. 52 will remain open to westbound traffic, and the eastbound side of U.S. 52 will not be affected by this change.

Crews from Shelly and Sands Incorporated of Zanesville are replacing bridge decks and resurfacing U.S. 52 between the 5.00-mile marker just east of state Route 650 at Hanging Rock and the 11.84-mile marker at the eastern corporation limit of Coal Grove.

Shelly and Sands was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $10.9 million, and throughout construction, an 11.5-foot width restriction and a 45-mile-per-hour speed limit are in effect within the project zone.

The scheduled completion date for all work is Aug. 31, 2009.
