IRONTON — Three remain in Lawrence County Jail after being arrested for charges related to drug trafficking.

The prescription pain medication discovered at the arrest is believed by the Sheriff’s office to have been brought back to the area from Florida for sale on the street.

Arrested were Amanda Thomas, 26, of 1966 North 4th St., Carlos Hutchinson, 35, of 707 Walnut St., and Michael Preston of 2104 Woodland Drive, all of Ironton.

“We know those arrested have been going to Florida to obtain pain pills,” Sheriff Tim Sexton said in a release.”

“These pills are brought back and are being sold in our communities. … During executions of search warrants we have located information that suggests connections to Florida Pain Clinics. In addition to the Florida Pain Clinics, we also realize problems exist with prescription medicine obtained via the Internet.”

All three will appear in Ironton Municipal Court for arraignment.
