COSHOCTON — Charlene Woodrum, 92, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Autumn Healthcare of Coshocton, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. The Carter County, Ky., native was the daughter of the late John W. Wills and Carrie M. Horner Wills. She was the wife of the late Emerson L.Woodrum, whom she married on Oct. 27, 1938. She was a homemaker and a retired elementary school teacher in the Rock Hill School District. She was a graduate of Elizabeth Township High School and Rio Grande College. She was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ironton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jewell E. Woodrum; three brothers and seven sisters.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, James R. “Ronnie” Woodrum of Coshocton, and Larry E. and Brenda Woodrum of Ironton; six grandchildren, Rhonda Colvin of Johnstown, Lana Woodrum of Columbus, James R. Woodrum Jr. and Denise Johnson, both of Coshocton, Gregory A. Woodrum of Norton, and Cheryl Day of Salina, Kan.; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Strawn and Brother John Day officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the First Baptist Church, 5th and Vernon streets, Ironton, Ohio 45638.
