The Coal Grove Lady Hornets won the Division III sectional volleyball tournament to advance to the district tournament for the first time since 1985.

The Lady Hornets beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 22-25, and 15-13 in the tiebreaker.

Keesha Wyatt scored 12 points for the Lady Hornets while Danielle Carpenter and Kelli McMackin had 10 points.

Rikki Butler had 14 kills and five blocks and Chelsea Delong had 12 kills for Coal Grove.

The Lady Hornets will play Chillicothe Huntington Ross at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Athens High School. The second game matches Alexander and North Adams. The winners meet in the finals on Saturday.
