The turnovers were too much.

Rock Hill was guilty of five turnovers and the River Valley Raiders combined the mistakes with a strong running game to roll past the Redmen 46-13 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

While the Redmen lost three fumbles and suffered two interceptions, Zach Baird rushed 27 times for 280 yards to lead the dominating ground game for the Raiders.

River Valley rushed 57 times as a team for 439 yards. Quarterback Clayton Curnette was 5-of-11 for 59 yards to give the Raiders 498 total yards.

Rock Hill had a balanced offense with 102 yards rushing and 163 passing. Steve Lewis ran 10 times for 60 yards and quarterback Will McCollister was 11-of-22 passing for 163 yards and two picks.

Mitchell Davenport caught three passes for 50 yards, Jeremy Blagg three for 39, and C.J. Justice three for 31.

The win snapped the Raiders’ 21-game losing streak in the conference dating back to 2004 and a win over South Point.

After Baird ran 55 and 46yards for touchdowns, Rock Hill scored on a 25-yard pass from McCollister to Trey Wilds. Cody Massie kicked the point after and it was 14-7 with 8:16 left in the half.

But Kody Johnson caught a 5-yard touchdown pass, Baird broke loose on a 65-yard touchdown jaunt to make it 26-7.

McCollister threw 9 yards to Jeremy Blagg for a touchdown with only five seconds on the clock and it was 26-13 at the break.

But the Redmen could not score in the second half.

River Valley opened up a 40-13 lead at the end of the third quarter following a touchdown pass of 16 yards to Jordan Deel and a 5-yard keeper by Curnutte.
