If there is still a little football fever rising in your playing system, then the Kenova Crash may be your best remedy.

The semi-pro football team is making plans for next season and they are looking for some more players by conducting an open tryout camp Saturday.

“We’re getting a lot of interest from local players and colleges,” said Crash associate head coach and defensive coordinator Tom Osborne.

“There’s no pay so it doesn’t effect their college eligibility. We have a lot of colleges who put players on these teams to get them some more work. We’re a feeder system to the area leagues.”

Some of the players with the Crash include offensive lineman Jesse Carmon (Ironton), wide receiver Sam Huff (Fairland), quarterback Jared Smith (South Point) and linebacker Jerrell Dean (South Point).

“We have some amazing kids speed-wise,” said Osborne.

Tryouts begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the old Ceredo-Kenova football stadium.

There is no cost to participants. Tryouts will consist of 40-yard time, shuttle time, as well as individual position drills. Kickers will be able to try-out as well.

Prospective players must be at least 18 years old and dress accordingly. Shorts/sweats and cleats are preferred.

Season tickets for the Crash are $25 or$7 at the gate. Fans can contact Barhouse or Osborne for information.

“We’re got more stability with our coaching and a lot of our players are coming back,” said Osborne. “We want a family atmosphere at the stadium. We’ll offer contests and put on (football) camps. The city of Kenova has really bought into us.”

The Crash begins its season in the spring with games continuing until early summer.
