Fred Homer Imes, Sr., 72, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Ironton native was born Feb. 15, 1936, the son of the late Ivan and Clara Walk Imes. He is survived by his wife, Betty Adkins Imes, whom he married Aug. 20, 1960.
Mr. Imes attended Ironton Schools and was self-employed. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Imes and three brothers, Bill Imes, Raymond Imes and Stanley Imes.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Fred Jr. and Betty Imes of Ironton, son: Rickey Imes of Ironton, son and daughter-in-law: Paul and Mary Mann of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law: Betty and Ray Nance of Willow Wood; daughter and son-in-law: Dreama and Homer Friend of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and John Nance of Willow Wood; four brothers, Paul Imes and Ralph Imes, both of Ironton, Leroy Imes, of Panama City, Fla., and Bobby Imes, of Celina, Tenn; four sisters, Dorothy Smith and Edna Henry, both of Springfield; Helen Imes, of Ironton and Mildred Fritzwater, of Indianapolis, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Kenny Waller officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
