HOOVER, Ala. — Dorothy McGuire Gallaher, 84, of Hoover, formerly of Chesapeake, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 4, 2008. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to many.
She was born Aug. 19, 1924 in Ironton, and was preceded in death by her mother, Nora Runyon McGuire; her father, John McGuire; and her husband, John H. Gallaher; her sisters, Beulah Humphreys and Oma Alfrey and a brother, Warren McGuire.
Surviving are her son, Charles Roger Gallaher, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., a daughter–in–law, Maryanne Gallaher; a daughter, Debra S. Kabcenel, a son–in–law, Andrew Kabcenel and his wife, Adrian; her granddaughters, Colleen E. Gallaher and Meaghan M. Gallaher; a grandson, Andrew “Ryan” Kabcenel; her sisters, Kathleen Blankenship, Edith Bryant, and many wonderful loved nieces and nephews.
She was retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital after 18 years of service. Dorothy was a member of Leatherwood Baptist Church. God blessed her with 84 years on this earth, and everyone who knew her was touched by her presence. She resided at Riverchase Village in Hoover, Ala., and her friends there were her family. The family would like to thank her doctors, nurses and everyone involved at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Ala. They were the angels around her during such difficult times. A big–hearted thanks and much love to all at Riverchase Village, the staff and her friends there remain forever in our hearts.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Leo Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
