It was a case of lost and found.

Coal Grove might have lost its rhythm in the second quarter, but Jordyn Cox found it quickly in the second half as the Lady Hornets rolled past the Fairland Lady Dragons 61-32 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Cox scored 18 of her 28 points in the second half to help Coal Grove overcome some early foul trouble.

Chelsea Delong was in rhythm early with 11 points in the first quarter. Cox added eight more as Coal Grove jumped in front 20-5.

But two starters went to the bench early with foul trouble and each team scored eight points in the second quarter to make it 29-13 at the break.

“We got out to nice lead, but then we got in foul trouble in the second quarter,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Nick Miller.

“Defensively we did okay, but we lost our rhythm offensively.”

Cox found her rhythm again as she pumped in 12 points in the third quarter and Delong added seven as Coal Grove extended its lead to 47-19.

Cox had six points early in the fourth quarter and then Miller emptied his bench.

Delong finished with 22 points as Coal Grove improved to 3-1 and 1-0 in the OVC.

Mackenzie Rucker scored 10 points for the Lady Dragons (1-2, 0-1).

Coal Grove hosts Lucasville Valley at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

In the reserve game, Fairland won 30-27 as Sashe Burcham scored 10. Amanda Collins had eight points for Coal Grove.
