Don’t blame the Rock Hill Redmen is they seem like control freaks.
Being in control is the goal of the Redmen and they met those goals Friday night as they beat the South Gallia Rebels 53-27 in a non-league game.
“If we can control the tempo and control the boards we feel we have a chance to win and that’s what we did tonight,” said Redmen coach Adam Simpson.
Rock Hill (1-1) not only controlled the boards, they dominated with 38 rebounds. Dustin Chandler grabbed 11 rebounds and Herbie Butterbaugh five.
On the offensive end, Luke Simpson had a game-high 16 points to lead nine different players in double figures.
Brandon Klaiber scored four points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 10-8 lead. Dalton Matney had five for the Rebels.
In the second quarter, Simpson hit a pair of 3-pointers and Jeremy Blagg and Ryan Albright each added a trey to back the defense who held South Gallia to just two points and it was 27-10 at the half.
Each team scored seven points to make it 34-17, but then Simpson had seven points and Albright six as Rock Hill outscored the Rebels 19-10 in the fourth quarter.
Matney led the Rebels with 12 points.
