If they decide to create a show called “Thirty Something,” Symmes Valley’s Kris Tibbs might have a chance for the lead role.

For the second straight game the Vikings 6-foot-2 junior forward scored at least 30 points as he led Symmes Valley to a 61-44 win over the South Gallia Rebels in a non-league match-up on Tuesday.

“Tibbs has been on his game the last couple of times we’ve played,” said Vikings’ coach Alvin Carpenter. “We’ve got some other guys who can score, but they saw that Kris was open and they did a good job getting him the ball. We passed the ball well.”

The Vikings did do a good job of passing the ball to Tibbs as evidenced by their 18 assists. Robbie Powell, Josh Craft, Hunter Johnson and Brandon Bowling had four assists each.

Craft had 10 points as the Vikings improved to 2-2. Luke Taylor grabbed 12 rebounds and Tibbs pulled down 11.

Carpenter was glad to see some consistency in his young team’s play.

“I wasn’t sure how we were going to play. The last two games we’ve been coming on. We’re working the ball and taking better shots,” said Carpenter.

South Gallia (2-3) was led by A.J. McDaniel with 10 points and Taylor McClannahan with nine.

The Rebels had taken a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter despite eight points by Tibbs.

But Tibbs scored 12 of the Vikings’ 17 points in the second quarter as they came back to take a 28-18 lead at the half.

Tibbs scored 10 points in the third quarters as the Vikings extended their lead to 46-29.

Tibbs did not play in the fourth quarter.
