Samuel T. Hayes, 94, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Sunset Nursing Center in Coal Grove.
He was born Aug. 13, 1914, the son of the late Samuel T. Hayes and Jennie Williams Hayes. He attended Quinn Chapel Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, and was retired from the U.S. Forest Service and The Patio restaurant in Ironton.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Doris Payne, Gloria Carlisle, Shirley Baker, Carla Battise, Edward Battise and Leonard Battise, all of Ironton, and Judy (Walter) Vinson, of Cadiz, Ky.
Survivors also include several great-nieces and great-nephews, Candy Carlisle, John Carlisle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlisle, Rodney (Donna) Hayes, and Andrea Preston, all of Ironton.
Graveside services were Friday in Woodland Cemetery, Veterans Section. V.F.W. Post 8850 performed military rites with the Rev. Richard Carter officiated.
O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
