A local theater group is hosting auditions for “Sohpistry” on January 8 and 9.

The auditions will be at Fairview High School, starting at 6:30 pm.

Auditions are open to adults, age 16 and up. There are five male roles and three female roles. Materials will be provided the night of the audition. It is not necessary to come with a prepared monologue.

Performances will be Feb. 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. at the Gukundi Multiplex, next to Kentucky Farmer’s Bank on Carter Avenue.

“Sophistry,” by Jonathon Mark Sherman, is a drama that tries to persuade the audience of its ‘truth’ by using subtly false reasoning.

This play depicts a college campus that is wrapped up in the story of a tenured, male professor who is accused of sexually harassing a male student. This event is at the forefront of the campus until the students begin to get wrapped up in their own lives.
