James Lewis Kisor, 78, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Wellston, Ohio native was born Dec. 20, 1930, the son of the late Clifford and Beatrice Buffington Kisor. He is survived by his wife, Edra Irene Caudill Kisor, whom he married Nov. 23, 1954.
Mr. Kisor attended Wellston High School. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal from the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a former crane operator at A.K. Steel for 39 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Woodland Chapel Church in Ironton and his biggest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends and going fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Kisor; two brothers, Cliff Kisor and John Kisor; and three sisters, Frances Denny, Marilyn Exline and Ida Bolen
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Ellen Kisor of Coal Grove; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Paul Johnson of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bill Mullins of Ironton; a granddaughter, Angie Kisor;
A grandson and his wife, Jake and Jennifer Kisor; a grandson and his fiancee’, Danny Mullins and Rachel Wiley; a grandson, Ricky Johnson; a grandson, John Johnson; a granddaughter, Tia Mullins;
two great grandchildren, Lily Kisor and Brycen Mullins; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ken and Marlene Kisor and Tom Kisor, all of Wellston; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara Ruckels of Wellston and Marie and Frank Hill of Lewisburg; a brother-in-law, Chuck Exline of Wellston; and a sister-in-law: Katie Kisor of Ironton.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Woodland Chapel Church, State Route 93, Ironton, with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with military graveside rites by V.F.W. Post #8850. Friends may call Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, and Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.
