The near zero temperatures weren’t the only thing that were freezing cold on Thursday.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings shot 21 percent from the field as they lost 60-45 to the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“Our girls put p some nice shots that just did not fall for us tonight, but we also forced shot shots because were failed to be patient on the offensive end,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Lisa Bryant.

Meghan Williams hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as East took a 14-6 lead. Williams had four treys as she scored 14 points.

“We focused on (Williams) in practice so that we would not give her any open looks or uncontested shots, and we failed to do both,” said Bryant.

Jessie Morris and Brooke Skinner combined for seven points in the second quarter as the Lady Vikings cut the deficit to five points at the half, 26-21.

The Lady Vikings (4-7, 4-5) trailed 40-31 at the end of the third quarter but the cold shooting continued to take its toll as East outscored them 20-14 in the fourth quarter.

“We have to get back on track offensively. We have hit a little shooting slump in the last two games,” said Bryant.

Haily Pelletier had 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots for the Lady Vikings. Erica Corn added eight points and Morris had six steals.
