MIDDLETOWN — Lloyd Justice, 81, of Middletown, formerly of Greenup County, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Middletown after an extended illness.
Mr. Justice was born Dec. 26, 1927 in Argillite, Ky., a son of the late Ed and Bertha Reeves Justice.
Mr. Justice was a retired manager of Wolohan Lumber in Columbus, Ind., after serving in the same capacity in Cincinnati and in Ironton as well as Ashland, Ky. He had previously worked for Pennco and Carolina Lumber Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an outdoorsman, especially enjoyed hunting and camping. He enjoyed coaching Flatwoods Little League.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Michael Justice on Nov. 23, 1997 and John Hal Justice on Nov, 20, 2008; a grandson, John Chris Justice on Oct. 15, 2008; four brothers, Paul Edward Justice, Clyde Justice, Tommy Justice and Garrett Justice and three sisters, Garnet Justice, Bonnie Justice and Jo Ann Justice Cartwright Justice.
He is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 27 years, Bess Kitts Justice. He was a loving PaPaw to two grandsons, Joshua Justice and Justin Justice; four great grandsons, Niholas Justice, Trevor Justice, Brandon Justice and Micah Justice; a brother, James Donavan Justice of Maui, Hawaii; five sisters, Lorene Hern, of Raceland, Ky., Janice Miller, also of Raceland, Maxine Kanter of Newport Beach, Calif., Yetta Stevens, of Flatwoods, Ky., and Sharon Koster of Orange Park, Fla.; two stepsons, Troy Zornes, of Chesterfield, Va., and Mark (Vickie) Rockwood, of Carlisle; a stepdaughter, Gay (Glenn) Mitchell, of Midlothian, Va.; five stepgrandsons, Andy Scott, Christopher Boyce, Glenn Mitchell Jr., Troy Zornes and Nicholas Rockwood; two stepgranddaughters, Valerie Zornes and Brandy Hellard and five step great grandchildren, Daniel Hellard, Haden Hellard, Nevah Scott, Addelyn Hellard and Alexander Hellard.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Ky., with the Rev. Doug Virgin officiating. Burial will follow in Reeves Cemetery in Argillite. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
