The St. Joseph Flyers weren’t just feeling kinda low. They were feeling flat.

The lack of emotion to start the second half proved costly for the Flyers as they dropped a 68-63 decision Friday to the South Gallia Rebels.

The Flyers led 30-28 at the half only to be outscored 17-9 in the third quarter as they fell behind 45-39.

“We came out flat and got outscored 17-9 and that was the difference in the ballgame. I don’t know how many times we’ve done that this year,” said Flyers’ coach Kevin Sheridan.

“We just didn’t have any intensity on the defensive end. We just didn’t play well. We told our guys to hold them under 60 points and we’ll win. But we didn’t play well.”

Joseph “The Shoe” Unger and Chad Harvey scored four points each in the first quarter as the Flyers took a 14-12 lead.

The Flyers’ Tanner Riley hit a pair of trifectas in the second quarter as each team scored 16 points.

Jacob Watson had 10 of his 26 points in the third quarter as South Gallia rallied to take the lead.

Harvey scored 14 in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels managed to outscore the Flyers 24-23 and hang on for the win.

Harvey led the Flyers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Pat Gagai came off the bench to score 13 points, Caleb Blackburn grabbed six rebounds, and Payton Blair had four assists and four steals.
