“We are excited about this special celebration. We all realize what an historic moment this really is,” said Dave Lucas, Scout Master for Troop 106. “We plan to have at least sixty visitors at the church on Sunday Feb. 1 so we can celebrate our heritage.” Lucas went on to add, “We hope other scout troops in the area will come and help us celebrate.”

“I am happy to be a part of a troop with such a great history. All of the boys in our troop feel excited about this special day,” said Cody Quillen, senior patrol leader. “We hope many people will come help us celebrate.”

Central Christian Chruch, located at 1541 South Seventh St. in Ironton, will commence the special worship celebration at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 1.

The troop will participate in the ceremony with a change in leadership, Eagle recognition and a presentation of colors. Immediately after the worship ceremony, the troop will host the annual spaghetti luncheon complete with a full plate of spaghetti, salad, beverage and desert all for a $5.00 donation to the troop.

“We want the public to come. We want our friends and family to come,” Cody said. “It is not everyday that a Boy Scout troop celebrates a birthday. Our troop turns sixty and we want people to come celebrate with us.”
