Elsie M. Kelly, 90, of Ironton died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Lackey, Ky.; the daughter of the late Jess B. and Cosettie Preston Travis.
She was a homemaker and attended Coal Grove schools. She was a member of New Valley Missionary Baptist Church and has lived here all of her life.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol J. Walters; a son, Lester F. “Buck” Kelly; four brothers, Herbert Travis, John Travis, James Travis and Roy Travis and three sisters, Lockie Bryant, Florence McDonnie and Eula Carico.
She is survived by her husband, Lester A. Kelly whom she married Aug. 1, 1936; three daughters and one son-in-law, Joan Marie Hunt of Lafayette, Ind., Joyce A. Kelly of Lexington, Ky, and Judy and Jim Shay of Ironton; one sister, Letitia Truchoweski of Ironton; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Garlen Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends call after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
