Poor foul shooting downfall for Fairland

The difference was at the foul line.

The Fairland Lady Dragons couldn’t convert their free throws and River Valley could as the Lady Raiders picked up a 58-47 Ohio Valley Conference win on Thursday.

River Valley made 20-of-35 free throw attempts while Fairland made just eight of 20 attempts.

Mackenzie Rucker scored 18 points to lead Fairland (6-9, 1-5). Emily McMaster scored 11 and Brianna Day had 10.

The Lady Raiders were led by Jenna Ward with 12 points, Brooke Marcum had 11 and Iliana Corfias added 10.

River Valley led 13-9 after the first quarter and opened up a 33-19 halftime lead. The game was 42-28 after three quarters before Fairland outscored River Valley 19-16 in the fourth quarter.
