When the shots didn’t fall, the Rock Hill Redwomen did.

Missed shots from in the paint proved to be Rock Hill’s downfall as the Redwomen fell 47-38 to the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers on Monday.

Another problem besides the tough shooting came at the foul line where Rock Hill connected on 15-of-26 attempts.

“We had our opportunities. We just missed a lot of layups and some timely free throws,” said Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks.

“We’re better now than we were when we played them at the beginning of the year, but we have to learn how to make the key plays.”

Kayla Skaggs scored five points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took an 11-9 lead.

Ashley Grizzle had five points for Greenup in the second quarter as Greenup County rallied to take a 22-21 halftime lead.

“We had a chance to take the lead right before the half and we took a bad shot,” said Fulks.

The missed shots were more pronounced in the third quarter as Rock Hill scored just three points and fell behind 32-24.

Courtney Duncan had five points in an attempt to rally Rock Hill in the fourth quarter, but Emily Brown scored five for the Musketeers who escaped with the win.

Duncan had 11 points, Chelsea Harper eight and Skaggs seven to lead Rock Hill (0-18).

Grizzle scored 12 and Brown 11 for Greenup County (6-11).
