Greenbo Lake to host Art Festival

GREENUP, Ky. — The Kentucky Creative Arts Club and Greenbo Lake State Resort Park will present the 23rd Annual Art Festival Friday and Saturday Feb. 20-21, 2009.

The event is a weekend for artists and art lovers dedicated to preserving and enhancing the culture of the tri-state community. Artists may enter up to four pieces of work as either a professional or amateur. All work must be ready to hang and suitable for family viewing.

Two dimensional media and sculpture are accepted. No photographs allowed.

Registration is Friday Feb. 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday Feb. 21 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Demonstrations will be held all weekend long. Judging will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday with awards to follow at 4 p.m. Artists must be at least 18 years old. Registration fee is $15 per artist. Admission to the show is free.

Meanwhile, Greenbo Lake State Resort Park has rescheduled a genealogy seminar that had to be cancelled due to last month’s ice storm. The cemetery iconology seminar, originally set for Jan. 31, will now be held Saturday March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Workshop fee is $5 per person.

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is on KY 1, 18 miles north of I-64 from Grayson exit or 8 miles south of U.S. 23 (The Country Music Highway) on KY 1. Greenbo Lake features the Jesse Stuart Lodge with 36 rooms, gift shop,

and Anglers’ Cove Restaurant.

The park has a 225 acre lake for boating and fishing, tennis courts, and 25 miles of multiuse trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

A newly renovated campground opened July 1.

Greenbo Amphitheatre features musical concerts and plays during the fall.
