CHESAPEAKE — Two students from Chesapeake High School are vying for the title of Ohio Junior Miss. They are Kara Simpson, daughter of Jon and Karen Simpson and Ann “Nikki” Lindsey, daughter of Douglas and Barbara Lindsey.

There are 29 high school seniors competing in Mt. Vernon. They are spending the week there rehearsing for the pageant, having luncheons with various service organizations and fulfilling speaking engagements.

Mt. Vernon has been the host city for 36 of the 51 years Ohio has had a Junior Miss competition. More than $17,000 in cash scholarships and $3 million in college scholarships will be awarded.

Simpson will be singing “Amazing Grace” as her talent. Lindsey will be doing a gymnastics and power tumbling routine.

The title of Ohio Junior Miss will be awarded at an evening pageant on Saturday.
