NORMA GORDON

MANSFIELD — Norma Jean Gordon, 74, of Mansfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born March 2, 1934, to the late Clarence and Hilda Hayes Giles in Ironton. She had lived in Mansfield the past 36 years. She was employed by various city and county agencies in the Mansfield area with her final responsibility being that of caseworker with the Richland County Child Support Agency, from which she retired. Her community involvement included a volunteer with United Way, and Headstart, and a member of the American Business Women’s Association. After her retirement Jean started her own Internet secretarial business which she operated out of her home until her illness. She also was an avid bowler.
In addition to her parents Jean was also preceded in death by her sister Mary Williams. Jean is survived by her husband of 54 years, R. David “Dave” Gordon, Sr.; a daughter, Pamela Gordon of Columbus; two sons, Robert D. Gordon, Jr. of Columbus, and Frank Gordon of Mansfield; a brother: Robert Jiles of Dayton and a brother-in-law, Walter Williams of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Service by Elder Renea Collins.
